Tonite I went to see Element 101 and interview them for HM. I have to admit that I was not a huge fan before the show, but afterwards I totally am. They put on an excellent live show, and the lead singer, Chrissie, is beautiful. They are also really nice and interesting. Anyway, it is a really late night and I am going to eat some ice cream and go to bed.

Tonight is Ester Drang which makes me happy. Also, I discovered now that I have left Baylor, I still try to eat the same stuff.....Let me explain. For the last nine months I ate at Penland Cafeteria. Two meals a day, for the most part, I ate a Quesedillia, a bowl of PAN GEOS pasta, and some mint chocolate chip ice cream. I would, of course, fill my back pack with fortune cookies on fortune cookie days also. Anyway, thats what I ate usually. Now that I have an apartment and have to scavenger for food myself, I have discovered the joys of grocery shopping. Dude, it is awesome. But regardless, I find myself wanting the same thing. I have mint chocolate chip ice creame and cones )chocolate waffle), and I am eating a ton of this Stouffers Fettuchini Alfredo stuff (it rocks). Now dont think i am crazy (i have a large stockpile of pepperroni hot pockets as well). But its still weird, Im basically eating the same thing. Regardless, the food was really good there.
I have to start sleeping more because im really tired and only getting five hours of sleep...tonite i wont be home until 2 in the morning and friday i am working from 7:30 am to 9 pm. tired.
Anyway, I am sad to announce that Austin does not play King of the Hill in the afternoons. this is heartbreaking. Here I am in Mike Judge's own residence, and I am lacking the king of the hill i so long for. sad.

I have been spending the last two days trying to get a hold of every Damien Jurado song I could. He is the coolest person ever.

I just fell in love with Amalie.
If you have not seen it, make every attempt. Amalie is an outstanding french film that has made a subtle ripple in the American market. Nominated for best foreign film, it lost. It is basically the "life is beautiful" of this year. It was outstanding, clever, and heartwarming. The film made me determined to someday also make films, unlike Van Wilder which I saw yesterday.
I have been listening to Damien Jurado's "I break Chairs" and "Ghost of David" all day. They are both wonderful. I saw him open for Pedro the Lion about a week and a half ago, but I was not impressed; however, the albums are incredible. It is very Pedro the Lion like, in one sense, as they are both beautifully bland. In a market of bright popy loops and warm catchy choruses, both Bazan and Jurado seem to appear dull-faced. I love it.
Tonite I also went to the Metro coffee bar where I spent some time brainstorming and drinking Cappachino. If you ever go there, the menu is on the opposite wall from the counter, which I did not discover until after I ordered. I did not want to ask the waitress lady because it would be stupid, so I just said Cappachino. After I turned around, there was an extensive selection.
Im enjoying Austin, as it has a lot to offer, but I am anxious to meet some people here. This evening I thought I had a good opportunity. When I returned from lunch, i saw a xeroxed flyer posted to the front of my door. At first I thought it was a warning about how the Al-Quida were targeting apartment complexes within the U.S. (one of the people I worked with found a flyer saying exactly that on his door last week). As it turned out, it was an invitation to a complex-wide get together at 7:30 in the evening. Supposedly, there was food, swimming, and a movie. I thought that this would be a good opportunity to meet some neighbors and eat free food. I arrived at 8. There were about 15 people there, not counting about 12 elementary aged children. All were in their late thirties to early fifties. Well I felt ackward after about 15 seconds, so I turned around and went back to my apartment. I didn't even eat any food. Well, I heated a pepperoni pizza hot pocket in my kitchen.
I saw a preview for what looked like an interesting movie: CQ.
